Choose the Right Onboarding Method

Vim supports two ways to onboard users to your app: Practice-level onboarding and Individual user onboarding. Use the guide below to choose the best option for your needs.

Key Features

When to Use

Practice-Level Onboarding

Apps used by an entire practice or organization

- Practice added as a group, with users linked under one unit

- Basic practice info required (e.g., name, contact info)

- Designated Champion can manage users- Easy to add/remove users over time

Use when onboarding a new practice with multiple users

Individual User Onboarding

Solo users or quick, self-service scenarios

- No setup required

—users install via a link- Users appear individually (not grouped by practice)

- No practice-level management

- Lightweight, fast onboarding option

Use when inviting individual users rather than full practices

Tips for Success

  • Not sure which method to use? Think about your app’s structure. If collaboration or user management is important, go with Practice-level onboarding. If your app works independently for each person, use Individual onboarding.
  • Communicate clearly with your network about what they can expect when they join via your link or invitation.
